INTERNATIONAL MOVIE COMPETITION - MY TOWN MOVIE

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1.     COMPETITION

The movie competition, hereinafter called The competition, will be held as part of a project aimed at promoting the benefits of the town of Nowy Sącz and its partner towns. The showing of the films, hereinafter called The Movie, and voting will be via the competition website of TGLS Foundation: www.mytownmovie.com

 

2.     ORGANIZERS

The competition is the creation of, and is organized by, TGLS Poland Foundation based in Nowy Sącz, at 5 Gabriela Zapolska Street, hereinafter called The Organizer.

 3.     COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS

3.1      In the Nowy Sącz qualifying stage, hereinafter called The Qualifying Stage, one movie will be selected to represent the town of Nowy Sącz in the international stage, hereinafter called The International Stage, of the competition.

3.2      Only representatives of invited secondary schools from Nowy Sącz partner towns can participate in The International Stage.

3.3      Only one movie from each school can be entered for the competition. 

4.     COMPETITION ENTRIES

4.1      In order to participate in the competition the completed application form for the school together with the signed acceptance of the rules and regulations should be faxed by 15.02.2011 to: +48 185211230, or a scan of the signed application should be sent to biuro@tgls.pl

4.2      The Movie should be completed by 30.04.2011 r. in compliance with the agreement between The Organizer and the school coordinator.

4.3      The Movie must:

·          be connected with the competition theme: My town („Film o moim mieście”);

·          be prepared and made independently, based on the ideas of the young participants;

·          be prepared entirely in the English language;

·          include the authors’ names, the movie title and the name of the town it refers to.

4.4    The Movie must not:

·    contain offensive or vulgar content or images;

·    violate any laws or damage the property of a third party.

4.5      To enter The Competition The Movie must be made in accordance with the technical guidlines listed below:

·          Its length must not exceed 5 minutes;

·          Its must be recorded in HD resolution

·          It must be made in MPEG4 format, or, if it is not possible in AVI, MOV, 3GP, or FLA format;

·          Language used in The Movie must be English, unless used for illustrative purposes.

4.6      Each movie entering the competition must have been made after 10.01.2011.

4.7      Coordinators appointed by the school shall confirm that The Movie has been made without violating any third party copyright.

4.8      Compliance of The Movie with the regulations will be verified by The Organizer.

4.9      After the verification stage, movies which entered the competition within the stated deadline will be placed on the competition website, hereinafter called The Website, of TGLS Foundation: www.mytownmovie.com where they will participate in Internet voting from noon on 15 June to noon on 15 July 2011.

6.     COPYRIGHT

6.1      The contestants confirm that they are the owners of the copyrights for their entry, and that it does not violate the copyright of a third party. All potential disputes resulting from The Movie will be the responsibility of the applicants, and The Organizer will be discharged from liablility.

6.2      If contestants use pieces of work created by a third party, prior permission must be obtained for use in their movie. 

6.3      Contestants agree to the placing of their movie on The Website and it being subject to voting,  as well as being shown during an award ceremony at the end of the competition and other retrospective activities connected with promoting the competition.

6.4      The applicants agree to the use of parts of their movies in TV programs reporting competition progress. They also agree to the showing of the whole movie or its parts by selected media patrons.

7.     EVALUATION OF THE MOVIES AND THE PRIZE

7.1      Movies fullfilling the requirements stated in point 3, 4 and 5  will take part in The International Stage of The Competition.

7.2      The winning movie will be selected by Internet voting which will take place from noon on 15 June to noon on 15 July 2011.

7.3      The rules of voting are as follows:

·            Only one one vote for a given movie can be cast from one person;

·            Votes cast in contravention of the rules will be removed by The Organizer;

·            An attempt to cast dishonest votes will result in a given account or computer being blocked from voting.

7.4      The winning movie will be awarded a prize provided by The Organizer, hereinafter called The Prize.

7.5      The Prize shall be a one week (five days) trip for five film authors and their coordinator to visit either:

·          Nowy Sącz and its environs, if the winner is a school from one of our partner towns;

·          A Nowy Sącz partner town, chosen by The Organizer, if the winner is the school from Nowy Sącz.

7.6      Expenses for the prize covered by The Organizer will be limited to: Flights and or other reasonable aspects of travel to and from the destination, not including travel from the individual homes to their departure point; Accommodation and full board in a Nowy Sacz hotel; trips in and around the destination, including all entrance fees.

7.7      The Prize shall be claimed before 31 December 2011 at a time convenient to and agreed on by the winning group and The Organizer.

7.8      The Prize cannot be exchanged for any cash or equivalent value.

8.     MISCELLANEOUS

8.1    All the competition movies will be archived by The Organizer.  

8.2    The Organizer may refuse to accept a movie or withdraw it from The Competition if any violations of the rules and regulations herein are identified.

8.3    The Organizer reserves the right to amend the rules and regulations. Contestants will be informed about any such changes as soon as is practicable.

8.4      All potential disputes or doubts will be settled by the The Chairman of TGLS Foundation.

8.5      The TGLS Foundation Chairman’s decision will be final.

8.6      Unresolved disputes, relating to organizing and running The Competition shall be submitted for resolution in the jurisdiction of The Organizer.
